Persistent Misuse of Laxyuup

Persistent misuse of land undermines authority.

Authority over laxyuup is sustained through lawful conduct over time. Repeated or ongoing misuse weakens recognition, standing, and trust.

Persistent misuse may include:

  • repeated violation of ayaawx,
  • ongoing harm to land, waters, or resources,
  • disregard for responsibilities or limits,
  • refusal to acknowledge or repair harm.

Where misuse continues:

  • authority may be challenged or withdrawn,
  • access may be restricted,
  • standing within the Nation is reduced,
  • restoration may be required before authority is renewed.

Authority is conditional, not permanent. It exists only so long as responsibility is upheld.

Failure to correct persistent misuse threatens lawful order and requires response to restore balance.
